Work Experience
Steve has worked primarily as a manager in banking and information systems industries. In that capacity, he has managed as many as 150 staff members, while overseeing budgets in excess of $6million. Steve worked for Bank of Boston for 12 years, and was promoted to Vice-President shortly before moving on to Cass Information Systems in 1994. At Cass, Steve serves as the Vice President and General Manager of the Boston Office.
Civic and Community Involvement
Like many young parents, Steve started his community involvement coaching youth sports. Steve helped coach both Youth Soccer and Youth Baseball in Watertown.
In 1999, Steve was elected to the School Committee, where his fellow Committee members recognized his leadership and elected him President. On the School Committee, Steve started Watertown's schools on their current road to improvement, while at the same time keeping spending at reasonable levels.
In 2003, Steve also was appointed to the (not-for-profit) Watertown Cable Access Corporation and was elected President by the board members. As President, Steve oversaw the construction of the new WCAC production studio. Located at the High School, both students and the public alike have access to this remarkable state of the art facility.
The studio is the crown jewel of the Eastern Massachusetts cable industry. And most impressive, the entire project was completed on time and under budget!
Also under his guidance and leadership, local programming increased dramatically, with scores of new sports and local shows being broadcast. Steve stepped down as the President after a two-year term, and now serves as the Secretary of the corporation.
In 2004, the Republican Town Committee recognized the same bold yet humble leadership that Steve had displayed as School Committee President when they asked him to become Chair. He's been re-elected unanimously ever year since.
Steve's service and involvement is not limited to municipal Boards and Commissions. Steve is a member in good standing of the Knights of Columbus, Watertown Council #155. For years, he has served as the Logistics Chairman for the Annual Watertown Cancer Relay for Life at Victory Field. Also, Steve is a dependable contributor and volunteer for the Watertown High School All-Night Graduation Party. Steve was a math tutor in the Boston Public Schools. In 2009 and 2010 Steve served as a "Big Brother" in Dorchester/Roxbury. Although his daughters have long graduated the Watertown Public Schools, Steve continues to contribute. When the need arose this past year, Steve volunteered to try his hand at sports casting. He has become the voice of Watertown High School girl's field hockey on Watertown Cable Access.
Most recently he was elected Vice President of the Massachusetts Republican Assembly.
