Watertown, MA ~ Steve Aylward - Town Council

What Sets Steve Apart?

Accountability

The most important role a Councilor has is to ensure that government works for the people. To ensure this happens, a Councilor must be willing to ask tough questions, find solutions to problems, and work cooperatively with other Councilors, setting an agenda that addresses the peoples needs. "Councilors are obliged to use their oversight authority to make sure the people get what they need from their tax dollars. The Town budget belongs to the people, and we must make sure every penny is spent wisely." says Steve.

Accessibility

In order to serve the people, you have to know the people and know their concerns. As your District C Councilor Steve, will always be available and will return your phone calls. "Why bother running for office" says Steve "unless you intend to listen to the people and help address their concerns. Openness and accessibility are the sacred underpinnings of a well run representative government".

Autonomy

Steve's sole interest is to represent the people. "In order to be an elected official and do the job right" says Steve "a Councilor must put special interest aside and focus on what’s best for the people he represents." Steve is committed to remaining objective. He will not becoming part of any "voting-block" and will thoroughly research every issue before he votes.
